It’s Boston Design Market time again! The 2017 Design Market schedule is jam-packed with innovative speakers, fun activities and, of course, inspiring design. Wednesday, October 11 and Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the Boston Design Center.

The line up for both days is outstanding, but here are a few of our favorite picks.

Wednesday, October 11th.

Capture1Morning: Meet the BDC and Tour the IDB. Meet Kristan McLaughlin, General Manager of Boston Design Center, and learn more about the future of Boston Design Center. Following a brief discussion of changes and new amenities, Kristan will lead the group to Boston Art (recently featured in Interior Design magazine) and Elkus Manfredi Architects (designers of Boston Art’s office).
This is an exclusive opportunity to learn more about the Innovation and Design Building. Tickets are limited. RSVP.

Afternoon: Innovators in Design. The Boston Design Center, as part of the Innovation & Design Building in Boston’s innovation hub, is no surprise interested in how businesses will embrace the proliferation of technology to advance and thrive. The panel is comprised of business stakeholders who have recognized the need for change and subsequently built solutions that will ensure they remain relevant. RSVP.

Evening: Waterworks’ Debut Event in Their New Boston Showroom. Immediately following the Innovators in Design keynote head to Waterworks’ beautiful new showroom.

Thursday, October 12th.

Morning: Trends Forecasting. This year’s trends panel moves away from the traditional meaning of “trends” and becomes a lively presentation by 3 commentators on trend forecasting. How does one actually anticipate what is going to be considered on trend in the future? What are some innovative tools that can help you stay ahead of the curve? RSVP.

Afternoon: Giving Back. As part of the Boston Design Center’s commitment to salute the brands in our industry that strive to make a difference either globally, locally, or in their workplace culture, Giving Back salutes those selfless members of our community and encourages self-reflection about how we can ensure the growth of our business also means the growth of our footprint on others. JF’s Olivia Lord will be participating on this panel – so it’s definitely one not to miss! RSVP.

CaptureEvening: Heading Home to Dinner Cocktail Party. Heading Home to Dinner Cocktail Party Kickoff! Boston’s first design and dine event, Heading Home to Dinner, showcases tabletops and bar carts by local designers and other creatives. The designs can be viewed at the cocktail party kickoff on October 12 through the dinner celebration on October 14. Ticket proceeds support Heading Home, a charity that helps families transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing. RSVP.

Additional Fun Activities:

Design A Tile. Join Ann Sacks for a MADE Tile paint party. Create your own one of a kind tile using Farrow and Ball paint while enjoying sweets and prosecco.

Tartans and Tea. Stark Fabrics will take you through a brief history of one of the most famous and iconic symbols of Scotland. Tartan!

Once Upon a Pillow. Charles Spada welcomes Rebecca Vizard to Design Market for a presentation followed by a book signing. An internationally known collector of exquisite antique and vintage fabrics and trims, Rebecca creates luxurious pillows for the design and retail trade.
