Walnut Wide Plank Hardwood Flooring

Jewett Farms + Co’s Walnut wide plank flooring is slightly softer than comparable Oak floors while still being heavy and stiff with exceptional dimensional stability. The classic beauty of a walnut floor cannot be surpassed. Walnut is prized among wood workers for its deep tones and excellent durability. Throughout history walnut floors have created a feeling of quality and luxury; it is a truly beautiful flooring material.

Walnut heartwood can be so dark toned as to have almost purple tinges while the sapwood features a lighter golden tan color. It has deep, rich chocolate tones that make a statement of quality and traditional beauty.

Jewett Farms + Co offers both select and character grade Walnut plank floors from our New England headquarters. Select grade Walnut plank flooring has a straight open grain while some character grade planks may have a grain pattern that is slightly curly. We can source many different and specialty grades and cuts of walnut flooring – the options are endless.

New Hardwood Flooring Options

Select Grade Flooring

Select grade flooring planks have a strong uniformity of color and pattern; each plank will blend well with its neighbor. Natural color and grain pattern come through to show the woods specific characteristics but the planks will lack any obvious blemishes or defects. Select grade is a combination of sapwood and heartwood that shows some knots, streaks and open grain patterning such as swirls and burls.

Character Grade Flooring

Character grade flooring planks show more of the natural characteristics of the wood such as knots and color variations. A character grade floor will have a more varied appearance from plank to plank and will include light and dark colors, knots, streaks and wormholes. The finished look is more natural and less uniform than a select grade floor.
