We Partied Like it was 1999 and also 1959, and 1969… well, you get the idea! The Decades of Design Summer Soiree was one for the books with fantastic costumes, festive beverages and fun decor.
The Summer Soiree was started in 2017 to be the summer block party of the Boston Design Center’s 6th floor. All the showrooms on the 6th floor worked together to create a fun and relaxed evening that stood apart from the typical design center events. We had so much fun last year, we decided to make it an annual event.
The 2018 Soiree was another wonderful summer evening. Each showroom went above and beyond to create the look, feel and taste of their decade. In the JF showroom, we represented to rockin’ 50’s complete with vintage record decorations, cat-eye glasses and even a soda shop with mini root beer floats.
One of my favorite parts of this event is working with our charitable partners. This year we were fortunate enough to partner with Zumix, a phenomenal organization based in East Boston that empowers youth through music. The fantastic band in the hallways of the BDC at the event? Zumix grads – Matty and the Push Ups. Through the raffle prizes donated by each showroom, ZUmix was able to raise $1900.00 These funds will support full scholarships for 4 Zumix kids, ensuring they can take music classes at no cost for the coming year.
Plans are underway to make the 2019 Soiree even better, so stay tuned and in the meantime check out these great images from the party, taken by Lizzy Barret.
