The Journey of a Website Redesign5 Min.
A company’s website is not only the online representation of that business, but it is also an extension of their culture and community. Given that, we decided it was time to re-examine our website and make some changes that would inspire and educate our visitors.
THE RIGHT TEAM. Rebuilding a website is a complex blend of creative and technical skills, much like building a kitchen. We knew that our particular skill sets would not be enough to create the kind of site that we wanted. So we did some investigating and took a lot of meetings and we found a creative company that was just the right fit for JF. We thought Saltwater Collective might be the agency for us when we walked into their Portsmouth, NH office complete with bicycles and surfboards, after meeting with them we knew we were a good match.
THE RIGHT MESSAGE. Our goals for the new website were to excite and inspire our visitors, while also showcasing what it is that makes Jewett Farms + Co. unique and special. We decided that the best way to do this would be simply to let our work do the talking and our to let cabinetmakers show their stuff.
THE RIGHT DESIGN. With our team in place and our message on point, it was time to create a design that would bring those elements to life. The Saltwater Creative designers took inspiration from the clean lines of our existing website and suggested modifications that would emphasize our beautiful imagery and changes that would include both our process and our craftsmen right on the site. They made our photos big and bold and simplified the navigation through the site.
WHAT’S NEW. Our favorite pages include the completely new Work section, showcasing our projects, including many new spaces that were not on our previous website. The Surfaces pages are where we show all our offerings for flooring, countertops and a section of kitchen accessories, handcrafted items built here in the JF shop that will soon be available for purchase for your home. (Stay tuned…) And of course, our newly redesigned blog – now our entire library of posts can be searched using tags.
We hope you enjoy our new website! Check it out, we’d love to hear your thoughts on the new look. The first 5 people to visit the site and send us their feedback will receive a set of handcrafted soapstone boot warmers! Email your thoughts on the new site to firstname.lastname@example.org
