Jewett Farms + Co. Parties at 7th Settlement8 Min.
T’was the season for fun, festivities and holiday parties! Everyone at Jewett Farms worked incredibly hard in 2013, so we decided to celebrate with a company Christmas party at 7th Settlement in Dover NH. What better fit for the JF Team than another local small business with a focus on perfecting their craft – especially when that craft is beer!
If you’ve not yet visited 7th Settlement, it’s definitely worth the trip. Located in one of the historic mill buildings along the Cocheco river, the brewpub and 7 barrel brewery retains the industrial feel of the building with exposed beams and brickwork. Jewett Farms + Co. provided the flooring for the space, a white oak that perfectly reflects rustic feel of the pub.
Much like JF, 7th Settlement grew out of a love of their craft. Co-Founders Josh Henry and Dave Boynton started out with a home brew kit in Josh’s garage. With a clear talent for brewing, a strong desire to open a local brewpub and a lot of fund raising the two have created the community supported brewery they dreamed of. All food and beer are locally sourced from within 30 miles of the brewery, they work with small farmers and other local micro-breweries. Both food and drinks are seasonal, fresh and completely delicious.
But what about the JF party! There was tabletop dancing and longwinded speeches (“I love you guys”). Just kidding, we had a great time – the whole team was there and many of the junior members! 7th Settlement’s Chef Taylor (formerly of Green Monkey) met with Matt and I the week before the party and helped us select a great menu of hot and cold appetizers that would appeal to a range of taste buds. The favorites of the night were definitely the local grilled lamb chops, amazing cheese platter, lobster grilled cheese bites, and the kids devoured the pizzas. We also did a good job ‘tasting’ the delicious 7th Settlement brewed beers, and those of their sister brewery One Love, also based in Dover.
Check out our good looking crew! And head over to 7th Settlement next time you’re passing through Dover.
