BDC FAQ’s
7 Min.
The old school notion of the trade only, closed door design center has been replaced. The design center of 2019 is a mecca of unique, luxurious and innovative products staffed by knowledgeable, committed professionals.
However, we often run into misinformation about the BDC – so i’m here to clarify with some BDC FAQ’s
You can purchase directly from many showrooms
Jewett Farms + Co. moved in to the BDC in November of 2015 after careful consideration, and much research into the future plans of the building. As a local, small business we got our start working directly with home owners. We enjoy working with many trade professionals. But, we will always love working with the people who actually use our kitchens.
No appointment necessary
The BDC and Innovation and Design Building make for a fun day out. The BDC has 6 floors of design showrooms with an extensive array of everything interior design. From fabrics, to tile. From antiques to contemporary furniture. And, of course the most beautiful cabinetry. BDC showrooms are open Monday – Friday from 9am -5pm. If you have a specific spot you want to visit (JF perhaps…) it’s a good idea to call ahead and schedule an appointment with them directly to get the most out of your visit.
Open to the public
Visitors to the BDC do not need to be accompanied by a designer. Bring your bestie, your grandpa, your neighbor – or come alone. This is the most common misconception of the Boston Design Center, times have changed and the BDC is open to all.
But if you want a designer, you can access one
Design Services offers Boston Design Center visitors consultation with an on-site professional designer who can provide everything from small project guidance to full-scale interior renovation planning.
The BDC Design Services team makes it possible for anyone to purchase from any showroom and navigate the Boston Design Center. The Design Services team is a group of 15 professional designers vetted through Boston Design Center. One is always on-site and available to meet, Monday-Friday from 10am – 4pm.
The first hour of consultation with a Design Services team member is complimentary. A capped hourly rate will apply following the hour. Design Services is located on the second floor of the Boston Design Center.
