The Counter Cabinet

We love a counter cabinet. This versatile piece can be used in so many ways to make your kitchen design unique and of course, functional. A counter cabinet is typically a cabinet that sits directly on the counter, they are usually the same depth as an upper cabinet and can go up as far as is desired. A counter cabinet offers a myriad of possibilities, from small appliance storage with roll-outs and pocket doors, to a showcase of precious accessories. We take a look at a few of our favorite counter cabinets.

This classic white counter cabinet does double duty as one of the only upper cabinet storage areas and it creates a division between the work area of the kitchen and the kitchen office nook. The kitchen has beautiful windows out to the garden that the homeowners did not want to lose, so almost all of the storage is in base cabinets. the counter the cabinet adds visual interest and offers appropriate storage for glasses.

Glass front doors offer the perfect showcase for beautiful stemware and dishes. These beauties have been in the family for decades and deserve to be shown off, safely behind glass. This counter cabinet again acts as a natural divider between the baking prep area and the pantry closet.

Adding mirrored doors to this counter cabinet creates the illusion of space and adds light to the kitchen. All of the homeowners small appliances live behind these doors, they’re easy to access but don’t need to be looked at all the time.

These two matching counter cabinets create a beautiful sense of symmetry in the kitchen and are far more interesting than two upper cabinets. They anchor the reclaimed wood open shelving and the glass doors give the appearance that the shelves run all the way through.

Corner counter cabinets are pretty special too. Typically these occupy space that could otherwise be difficult to properly utilize. They’re the perfect spot for small appliances on rollout trays, and they’re a great spot for pocket doors.

The nook counter cabinet might be my favorite. What a perfect way to fill a space, create storage and include gorgeous craftsmanship in the kitchen. These sliding doors and reclaimed pine shelves are unique and gorgeous.
