Pizza Pie Fundraiser

What’s better than a delicious New York pizza? A delicious New York pizza that directly supports Safe Horizon, the largest victim services organization in the country.

We’re honored and excited to compete in the inaugural Pizza Pie Showdown, an innovative and fun way to raise money for an incredible cause. Our goal is to raise as much as possible to support the renovation of a Safe Horizon childcare center—safe, joyful spaces for children and families escaping domestic violence. Every dollar goes directly to that work.

We are following in the footsteps of some of our NYC home and design industry colleagues. The fundraiser is chaired and created by Denise Kuriger of Denise Kuriger Designs, whose connection to Safe Horizon is deeply personal. Peggy Duffy, a friend of Denise Kuriger, was a devoted mother of two. In March of 2012, Peggy was tragically shot and killed in her kitchen by her ex-husband while her son was in the next room.

To honor Peggy’s life and spirit, Denise Kuriger and Peggy’s sister, Maureen Duffy Tan, are collaborating with Springpoint Group and Taconic Builders to fundraise for renovations at other Safe Horizon childcare centers. The Peggy Duffy Fund will provide children and families with bright, cheerful spaces to enjoy during their healing journeys.

Industry partners Jonathan Parisen, Springpoint Group, and Taconic Builders are experts at building high-end residential and commercial real estate. Although much of the labor will be donated, Safe Horizon will need to raise funds to renovate the childcare areas, meeting rooms, exterior play space, and common area for events.  That’s where the Pizza Pie Showdown steps in!
