Jewett Farms + Co. response to Covid-19
7 Min.The global spread of the virus COVID-19 is unlike anything we have experienced in our 20 years in business. We want to let you know the measures we are taking to protect the safety of our employees and ensure our clients receive the same high level of craftsmanship and service.
In the shop
Our cabinet makers in Maine are working hard to be vigilant about hygiene. We have increased our cleaning service and encouraged safety protocols. We are regularly disinfecting common areas and not using our typical gathering areas.
Our shop manager is organizing the work flow in the shop to promote individual work and use of tools. Fortunately our shop is large enough that each craftsman has their own work area, and can have more than the recommended 6 feet of space.
Our cabinet makers are encouraged to stay home if they are unwell. They are committed to restricting their movements to home and work. Those who need time off to provide childcare or to protect vulnerable family members are granted that time. Flexibility is key during this time and we want to give our employees the time they need.
We are currently not measuring in the field. If your project is at the measuring stage we will work with you personally (and remotely) to ensure that we get the information we need.
In the showrooms
All Jewett Farms + Co. showrooms are currently closed. Our sales team and designers are working from home. A public facing showroom in a metropolitan area is a different kettle of fish to a wood shop in Maine. For the safety and peace of mind of our showroom employees we encouraged them to work from home early on and they have easily transitioned as restrictions have become tighter in their cities.
We have many tools and resources for working remotely with clients that we use regularly for out of state projects. Learn more about our remote communication tools.
Meeting deadlines
Our team of cabinetmakers is incredibly dedicated to their work. In the event of a shop closure we will do everything we can to quickly bring projects back on track with as little disruption to schedules as possible.
Our sales team are available to chat through any potential issues, and are, as always, committed to communication and taking personal care of every project.
A final word
We are all in this together and we believe strongly in doing our part to protect the well being of our community. We are taking active steps to stay healthy and maintain our workflow. We have solid systems in place to minimize unnecessary contact without impacting the quality of our design process. This is not a situation that anyone was fully prepared for, but we believe that by taking appropriate and cautious measures we will take care of both our team and our work.
Thank you for your support, Matt, Mike and the whole JF Team.
