Remote Communication
7 Min.Remote communication? We were doing it before it was cool. Over the years we have worked on projects throughout the US. As a New England based company we have figured out methods of communication that are effective and easy to use to ensure that nothing is lost in translation. Whether you’re local or on the other side of the country – we’ve got it covered.
Sharing Ideas
During the early design phase it’s important to let your designer know what you like and what you don’t like. This is the time to dredge up all those saved photos of kitchens that made you drool.
Remote solution: A shared Pinterest folder can be a great at option. Or a House idea book. Both client and designer can contribute and communicate about the ideas.
Viewing the plans
Your kitchen designer should furnish you with a detailed set of in process 2D plans and a set of final plans. These can be large files that can be difficult to email.
Remote solution: There are many file transfer options online. We use Dropbox which allows you to receive and save the files quickly and easily.
Understanding the plans
Looking at plans is one thing – figuring them out can be a little more tricky. In an in-person meeting, your designer would be able to walk you through the details and layout in a detailed manner.
Remote solution: We use Go To Meeting, as long as you have a wifi connection the meeting is as easy as face to face – but without the commute. Go To Meeting gives you and your designer all the info, plans and time to discuss all the details and make sure you are 100% happy with the plans.
In-house communication
Because you and your designer are not the only two involved in the process, we need to ensure that the information from you and your home makes it to the rest of our team.
Remote solution: We use a program called Asana for our in-house communication regarding every project. We upload photos, add designs and all pertinent information for each project. Asana means that any member of our team can find the right information about your project easily. If a critical team member is out sick, or on holiday we have the answers at our fingertips.
Old School
We even use the telephone – crazy right? Communication is critical to a well-run project and we work incredibly hard to ensure that we have multiple options for communication. Whether it’s an online meeting, accessing files and 3D renderings via a sharing platform. Or a simple phone call to talk through your door profile options. We are here for you – and you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your home.
While we are away from our showrooms and offices all voice mails are emailed to us. So every call is heard and responded to.
