Local Inspiration
7 Min.Even though we are all apart, I am finding pockets of inspiration in our local areas. People doing small, but powerful things to make their communities feel less alone.

Flour Bakery, Boston
Flour Bakery are accepting donations to provide meals for the hard working teams at MGH and Boston Medical Center. You can donate in the following amounts:
-$5 breakfast: a flour pastry, packaged and delivered to a healthcare worker
-$10 lunch: a flour sandwich or salad, packaged and delivered to a healthcare worker
-$15 lunch + snack: a flour sandwich or salad and a treat, packaged and delivered to a healthcare worker.
Feel free to change the quantity to serve as many heroes as you would like.

Haven Homes Realty, Maine
Haven Homes is proving that their Community is the most important thing to them. They have set up a hotline for anyone in need of help.
“We Live to Give! You need groceries? A prescription? Dog food? Seeds for the garden? Heating fuel? Games for the kids? Your septic pumped? If it’s one thing we are as Realtors, it’s WELL-CONNECTED! We’ve got all these resources at our fingertips, and if we can’t directly help, we absolutely know who to call.”

Bauer Hockey, Exeter NH
The Exeter New Hampshire-based hockey gear company Bauer is joining other manufacturers and universities in a push to make protective gear for medical staff and first responders.
Let’s not forget the little guys
All those amazing local bakeries, restaurants and grocery stores that have made quick and effective pivots to continue serving their customers in a safe, touch-free way. The state of Maine has set up a great website that gives information on how to help these businesses survive during this time. Pay It Forward Maine has a ton of information that can be applied to places outside the state – worth a look.
So many people are doing their own small part to make a big difference. Including the JF team, we have made fabric masks that we have given to our team and also delivered around our community. Need a mask? Email olivia@jewettfarms.com and we will mail one to you.
But, most importantly, Stay home.
Stay safe, stay home, stay healthy. We are busy, hard working people and it can be hard to feel as though you are not contributing. But staying home is the biggest contributor to community health. Think of your living room as your captains bridge and man that ship!
