Sadly, we can’t build everything at our York, Maine cabinet shop. Appliances are an important part of your kitchen. But just because they are a functional necessity doesn’t mean that they can’t be beautiful and fun and creative. Let’s take a look at some of our favorites.

We love this Wolf cooktop. The burners are recessed into the countertop and the beautiful signature red knobs are mounted to a cabinetry panel. This is truly an example of form meeting function. An appliance that is perfectly suited to the design of the kitchen. The judicious use of cabinetry panels on appliances can create a beautiful look that can be very modern or quiet traditional. Commercial look, in-home convenience

I had a funny conversation with Chef Evan Mallet when he was giving a presentation at our showroom during Fall Design Market. He and his wife had recently remodeled their kitchen and found while they agreed on many things, they ran into conflict when it came to the range. Evan, as a professional chef, wanted a commercial range with all the power and utility of the cookers in his restaurant kitchen. Evan’s wife argued that at home they did not have a team of sous chefs to do the ongoing maintenance as well as keep a constant eye on the timer and temperature. She pitched for a residential model that catered to home cooks and included a self cleaning feature, pre-heating timer not to mention the ease of install and venting. I’ll let you guess who won that argument… Fortunately there are some beautiful residential ranges available that have a commercial look (but keep all the bells and whistles for the happy home cook)
